The Riviera Maya is a must-see destination for those looking for a vacation in the midst of luxury, the coastal landscape and the lively nightlife. As many travellers describe it, it has a true essence of a Mexican paradise with luxurious chain resorts, fine white sand beaches overlooking sapphire waves and centuries-old Mayan ruins, located in the middle of a dense jungle, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The entire coastal stretch has a party essence, with opulent properties with private beaches, events throughout the year; ranging from festivals to private beach weddings to a sophisticated dining scene with a touch of fusion to satisfy all foodies.

The Riviera Maya has transformed, over the years, from a fishing area to a world-class investment destination. And along with the growth of tourism, entrepreneurs and digital nomads, cities like Playa del Carmen and Tulum have been flooded. The area has monopolized the market, for being an eco-chic destination. It is the kind of place where you can arrive in a private jet and enjoy a luxurious rest on the most beautiful beaches in the country, with total privacy and unique amenities. It is a destination as fashionable as St. Barts, St. Tropez and the Greek island of Mykonos.



Thanks to the crisis, today there is a buying moment: a pause in the gigantic growth trajectory of the Riviera Maya, which can become a huge advantage for investors. The goal is to buy the right real estate to generate income and appreciation.

In January 2020, the Financial Times ranked the Riviera Maya among the ten fastest growing real estate markets in the world. In an area where residences can achieve investment returns of up to 18%, the vacation rental market will have an estimated growth of 15%, only in early 2021.

The best way to generate dividends is through real estate investment, the value increases and provides high returns when the property is rented or sold. With tourists hitting record numbers and a high occupancy rate in the area, it is the perfect opportunity to invest and earn income by obtaining a vacation rental property.

The Riviera Maya has managed to establish itself as the best investment place in Mexico, with the largest offer in sustainable properties. Last year, the Riviera Maya became one of the first places to adopt the UNWTO Global Program for Sustainable Tourism. The evaluation of the destination marks an important step to guarantee the fulfilment of the destination motto: Riviera Maya, paradise is forever.

Even during the Covid season, the Riviera Maya will exceed 4.5 million arrivals, more than the Philippines, Chile, Peru or Israel. The room inventory has nearly tripled from 14,870 to 42,011 during the same period. The net effect is an occupation of 81.61%.

At the state level, we can observe that the real estate demand during the semester had an inclination towards the Residential subsector, with a total participation of 84.79%, which had a percentage variation of 6% in the period from November 2019 to May 2020.
